Dimensions allow you to group specific key tags, streamlining resource organization and enhancing data analysis.
How to create Dimensions
How to Use Dimensions
There are today two different places where you could leverage dimensions.
Filtering in the inventory
Dimensions allow for sophisticated filtering in the inventory. By applying a dimension filter, you can view all resources associated with any of the keys within that dimension. This includes both virtual and provider tags, offering a comprehensive view of your resources based on selected criteria.

Grouping in Tag Audit
Another valuable application of dimensions is in the tag audit process. Here, you can group resources by dimensions, enabling you to assess the number of resources and the coverage rate of resources associated with the keys in a dimension. This grouping provides a clearer understanding of tag distribution and usage across your resources.

Practical Applications of Dimensions
Using dimensions can significantly enhance your resource management and analysis. For example:
Monitoring Environment Tags: Group tags like 'env', 'Env', and 'environment' together. This allows you to monitor all resources related to different environment settings under a unified category, despite variations in tag naming.
Project-Based Grouping: If you have multiple tags representing different aspects of a project (e.g., 'project_id', 'project_area'), grouping them under a single dimension can simplify tracking and analysis of all resources related to that project.
Cost Center Analysis: By grouping tags related to different cost centers or departments, you can easily analyze and compare resource usage and costs across different parts of your organization.
Dimensions offer a flexible and efficient way to manage and analyze tags, bringing a new level of clarity and control to your resource management in Tailwarden.
