Please be advised that you first need to connect your GCP account. Please refer to this page to learn how to do this.
After having connected your GCP project, you need to enable the cost insights feature. As for the first step, you need first to setup a few things on GCP, then input them in Tailwarden.
Step 1: create a dataset on bigquery. You can pick the name that you want - but please note it as you will need it later.
Step 2: go to billing export page on GCP and enable standard usage report. Pick the dataset created in step 1.
Step 3: you also need to enable detailed usage report. Also pick here the dataset created in step 1.
There are two versions of step 4 - we advised you to follow step 4 - alternative a which is the simplest.
Step 4 - alternative a: Go to the table created for the billing export in the dataset you created. Click “Share”, then “Add principals”. In the input field, type: bq-demo@komiser-production.iam.gserviceaccount.com, and select the role “BigQuery - Data Viewer”. Then click “Save”. Repeat these steps for the detailed billing export you created.
Step 4 - alternative b: You need to update the service account you have created when integration your project to Tailwarden to be sure it includes this permission "bigquery.jobs.create" for the big query tables you have created.
Step 5: get the name of the dataset where you enabled both cost reports, and the name of your project
Step 6: go back to Tailwarden, access your GCP project and fill the information gathered in step 4
Congrats, you're done! It might take up to 48h before you get your costs in GCP - please be advise that this delay is due to GCP, not Tailwarden.
